Position Summary
The Project Specialist (intern) provides support to digital health projects in the areas patient experience and clinical care. This will include the seeking our digital health technologies, planning, execution and ongoing monitoring and evaluation phases of diverse projects. Examples of support include conducting environmental scans, literature review, supporting the development of proposals, development of work plans, implementation, and monitoring tools. The intern will also support teams through the innovation process including involvement in codesign and solutioning. They will also support writing of reports, preparing slides and presenting to various internal and external audiences.
Responsibilities will be matched with assigned projects (the following are some examples):
Activity A: Planning
- Research activity – literature review by conducting literature searches, extracting relevant information, interviewing key informants, synthesizing the literature for the purpose of identifying current issues in healthcare
- Environmental Scan- Ongoing scanning for digital health technologies that can augment clinical care and/or enhance the patient experience
- Codesign – Support team members through the innovation methodology
- Proposal writing – participating in the conceptualization of proposals, content development and coordinating the writing of the proposals to support funding opportunities
- Stakeholder engagement – under the direction of the supervisor, engaging internal and external stakeholders in solutioning
Activity B: Implementation
- Collaborating with stakeholders
- Support the development of solutions to address current issues
- Developing draft work plans
- Coordinating activities involved in implementation of specific projects
- Managing communication tactics with partners and stakeholders
- Identifying implementation successes and challenges
Activity C: Monitoring & Evaluation
- Coordinating the collection of data to support on-going monitoring and evaluation
- Analyzing the data under the direction of researchers where required
- Preparing summary reports
Activity D: Knowledge Transfer
- Supporting the preparation of project reports
- Preparing presentation materials
- Conducting presentations on select components of a project, proposal or results
REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently enrolled in a graduate degree in business, innovation, health administration, health promotion, public health or related program, international studies
- Understanding of the Canadian healthcare system
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be available for a 3 month or 12-week term
- Interest in social impact work and solving large societal problems
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and changing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build meaningful relationship with internal and external stakeholders
- Self-motivated and directed with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a changing environment
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to conduct research, distill information into succinct insights and actionable recommendations
- Experience with codesign would be preferred but not required
