POSITION SUMMARY:

The E-Shift/Palliative Program is a new model of care which expands the capabilities of specialty nursing providers by advanced use of directed acts between Registered Nurses and Personal Support Workers (PSW).  In this technology enabled, virtual model of care, the PSW will provide bedside care to palliative clients using a mobile application, in collaboration with a Directing Registered Nurse.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current PSW or HSW Certificate

  • Enhanced training related to Palliative/End of Life Care such as completion of Hospice Palliative Care training programs, in-house or delivered externally such as Fundamentals in Hospice Palliative Care, AHPCE (Advanced Hospice Palliative Care)

  • Availability to work overnight shifts and every other weekend

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle and willingness to travel

  • A willingness to attain required Saint Elizabeth certifications

  • Proficient computer/technological skills

  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Effective problem-solving and conflict management skills

  • Works well in a changing environment

  • A demonstrated appreciation for Quality Improvement processes

  • A current CPR and First Aide certificate is required
