- A current and annual Registered Nurse Certificate of Competence issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
- Baccalaureate degree or equivalent
- A current CPR certificate is required
- A willingness to obtain required Saint Elizabeth Health Care and/or external clinical specialty certifications is required
- LEAP certification is required
- Certificate in Hospice Palliative Care (HPC) Nurse or commitment to pursue is an asset
- Ability to do shift work as per the needs of the hospice, flexible hours and on-call rotation
- Clinical experience in hospice palliative care is an asset
- Knowledge and experience in working with palliative clients and their families
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills are required
- Knowledge of interdisciplinary care processes, commitment to team work, and ability to collaborate effectively
- Experience working with a wide variety of community service providers
- Ability to exercise sound judgement, make appropriate decisions, and accept responsibility for outcomes
- Experience working with volunteers involved in many aspects of care is an asset
- The ability to work independently in a highly self-directed manner is required
- Effective problem-solving and conflict-management skills are required
- Self-motivated, results oriented, personable, well organized, diplomatic, strong verbal and written communications skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks
- Effective verbal and written communication and ability to provide clear direction
- Strong computer and technology skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook); experience with electronic health records systems, databases etc.
- A demonstrated appreciation for Quality Improvement processes is required
- Positive approach to service and a demonstrated capacity for empathy
- Adequate nursing availability to meet client care needs is required
- Provision of Vulnerable Screening /Police Record check
