JOB SUMMARY: 

The Manager, Internal Audit provides independent, objective, and risk-based assurance services that support the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls across SE Health. Through audit execution, data analysis, and evaluation of business processes and controls, the role contributes to operational improvement and risk mitigation. The role also supports the Director, Internal Audit in the execution of the annual audit plan approved by the Finance and Audit Committee.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Internal Audit Activity

  • Supports the development of the annual audit plan for the Finance and Audit Committee.

  • Conducts risk assessments for each audit engagement, identifies key risk areas, and prioritizes audits accordingly.

  • Designs and executes audit programs to ensure objective and thorough evaluations.

  • Assesses the effectiveness of internal controls and risk mitigation strategies and identifies control weaknesses.

  • Prepares working papers, audit reports, findings, and recommendations, ensuring well-documented findings with clear conclusions and proper supporting documents.

  • Supports special reviews and investigations, as required.

 

Analytics & Reporting

  • Analyzes data to identify risk trends, inefficiencies, and control weaknesses while assessing emerging risks.

  • Enhances the audit process by integrating data analytics for deeper insights.

  • Assists the Internal Audit team in leveraging data analytics tools to present large datasets effectively.

  • Develops summaries of findings incorporating visual data to simplify complex findings.

  • Contributes to the preparation of interim and annual reports for senior management and the Finance and Audit Committee. 

 

Remediation Monitoring 

  • Drives continuous improvements by recommending solutions to address identified deficiencies.

  • Collaborates with management to develop feasible and effective remediation plans.

  • Monitors and ensures timely implementation of corrective action plans within agreed timelines.

  

Direct Supervision & Mentoring

  • Provides direct supervision to assigned staff, including work planning, assignment of audit activities, and ongoing oversight of work progress to ensure quality, timeliness, and adherence to Internal Audit standards.

  • Mentors and coaches staff through regular one-on-one meetings, on-the-job guidance, and performance feedback to support skill development, professional judgment, and audit proficiency.

  • Supports performance management activities, including input into goal setting, performance evaluations, and development planning for direct reports.

     

     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA and CIA designations are required.

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in internal audit, risk assurance, or related fields, preferably within a complex, multi-entity or highly regulated environment.

  • Minimum 2 years of people leadership, supervisory, or project leadership experience.

  • Strong data analytics capabilities, including advanced Excel, Power BI, and ACL (or similar audit analytics tools).

  • Experience with Workday and Salesforce is an asset.

  • Strong business and risk acumen, with the ability to balance strategic perspective and detailed execution.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and lead internal audit engagements.
