Position Summary:  
As the QA Manager, you are responsible for overseeing the planning, preparation, and execution of effective testing efforts across your team of QA Analysts. You are committed to delivering high-quality solutions that integrate complex systems and are expected to guide testing initiatives by leveraging your organizational and domain knowledge along with your software testing expertise. You will lead the development and enforcement of quality assurance standards, processes, and procedures to drive continual service improvements in both the quality and efficiency of testing throughout the organization. In addition, you will lead the strategic implementation of test automation tools and frameworks, while mentoring the QA team to achieve higher levels of performance and maturity.

Employment type: Temporary contract for 1-1.5 years.

Position Responsibilities:

Software Testing and Strategy

  • Ensure the overall quality of solutions through executing all aspects of Quality Assurance in every phase of the software development life cycle. 
  • Ensure test results align with business functional and technical requirements, system compliance, and integration specifications.
  • Primary liaison for testing expertise for business participants on user acceptance test support.
  • Develop comprehensive test strategies, both at a project as well as program/portfolio level, across multiple integrated platforms.
  • Create test plans, scenarios, scripts, and expected results.  Lead and execute the required testing, either independently or in partnership with internal or external parties.
  • Provide oversight and/or validation of vendor testing to ensure completeness, accuracy and quality.
  • Configure, implement, validate, and maintain test data and test environments. 
  • Log, track, and report test results and communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management.
  • Communicate quantitative and qualitative findings from test results to relevant stakeholders.

Quality Assurance Operations

  • Lead and/or support initiatives to improve existing and/or implement new QA processes within the organization.
  • Lead and/or support the evaluation, deployment and management of test automation and tools to improve efficiencies.
  • Provide thought leadership and act as an escalation point to your broader team and the organization in support of delivering business value.
  • Identify and implement new methods, processes or organizational improvements to enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of your team.
  • Develop, disseminate and cultivate application testing best practices throughout the organization.
  • Facilitate meetings and discussions to solve technical or quality related issues.

Team Management and Development 

  • Coach, mentor and train your team with the ability to delegate structured assignments and monitor progress.
  • Establish and communicate goals and objectives to your team, coach and encourage teamwork and communication.
  • Influence organizational change within the scope of your accountabilities.
  • Support the selection of team members and contribute to their orientation/training 
  • Set workload and testing strategies for team execution.
  • Be a driver in overall team development through active participation and collaboration.
  • Identify and support opportunities for professional development within team members
  • Actively engage in ongoing Performance Management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems or other technically relevant degree.
  • Minimum 8+ years of related work experience in Software Quality Assurance.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in managing direct and/or indirect reports.
  • Prior experience working in cloud/SaaS based platforms is required, with Salesforce and Workday strongly preferred.
  • Strong familiarity and experience conducting complex data integration testing, involving both cloud based and on-prem solutions.
  • Prior experience in developing comprehensive program/portfolio level test strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, vendors, and other IT professionals, specifically in building relationships, managing expectations, and leading small teams.
  • Experience with enterprise application technologies (Database and Application Servers) and issues (scalability, security).
  • Proven experience supporting the design, development, implementation and maintenance of test tools and automation software.
  • Sound knowledge of system testing and software quality assurance methodologies, tools and best practices.
  • Proven skills documenting problems found during testing in language understandable to users, system development staff and vendors.
  • Good understanding of programming languages and SQL/relational databases.
  • Good understanding and experience with formal IT project methodologies, processes, and practices.
  • CSTE (Certified Software Test Engineer) or CSQA (Certified Software Quality Analyst) certification is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ITSM/ITIL process analysis and improvement.

  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in an environment where QA tools are not in use and processes/ procedures are not well defined.

  • Self-motivated and able to manage work priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Proactively looks for and addresses opportunities for efficiencies and/or improvements within their direct level of authority and/or the IT organization.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
