Job Summary:

The Senior Information Technology and Security Analyst ensures the security, integrity, and reliability of the organization’s IT infrastructure and data. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining advanced security controls, continuously monitoring systems for vulnerabilities, and responding to cybersecurity incidents to safeguard against evolving threats. The position also supports compliance with regulatory and industry frameworks, manages and optimizes security tools, and works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure IT security initiatives are aligned with operational needs and broader business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

Monitoring and Enforcing Security Controls

  • Assist with the maintenance and enhancement of security measures across diverse IT environments, including servers, network equipment, workstations, and multi-cloud platforms (on-prem, Azure, AWS).
  • Proactively monitor and fine-tune IT security controls such as Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems, Malware Protection, File Integrity Monitoring, Endpoint Anti-Malware, Remote Access Systems, VPNs, Data Loss Prevention, and both wired and wireless network security.
  • Perform comprehensive vulnerability assessments and threat analysis to identify and address potential risks, anomalies, and breaches, ensuring a robust security posture.
  • Play key role in disaster recovery planning, testing drills, and tabletop exercises to validate organizational readiness and continuity plans.


Ensuring Compliance with Regulatory Standards 

  • Support organizational compliance efforts by conducting audits and assessments to ensure alignment with critical frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, PHIPA, and other industry standards.
  • Accurately document IT and security controls, processes, and activities to support audit readiness and compliance monitoring.
  • Implement and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and sensitive data.


Scripting, Automation, and Systems Management 

  • Develop, test, and maintain advanced scripts and automation workflows to optimize security processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability scans, implement patching activities, and ensure systems are consistently updated to prevent exploitation of known vulnerabilities.
  • Oversee the configuration, management, and optimization of security tools and platforms, including SIEM systems, vulnerability scanners, endpoint security solutions, and cloud-based threat detection tools.
  • Provide after-hours support for critical implementations, testing, and system upgrades as required, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.


Incident Response and Risk Mitigation 

  • Assist team with cybersecurity incidents, supporting prompt response efforts and conducting detailed investigations, including log analysis, threat detection, and root cause determination.
  • Develop and recommend effective defensive strategies and countermeasures based on insights from technical security controls and threat intelligence.
  • Analyze and prioritize security-related events, assess their severity and potential impact, and generate detailed reports for resolution in alignment with SLAs.
  • Implement corrective actions and recommend proactive risk mitigation measures to strengthen the organization's overall cybersecurity resilience.

 

Reporting and Collaboration 

  • Design & create reports / dashboards detailing security performance, detected vulnerabilities, resolved incidents, and ongoing risks for key stakeholders, including leadership and external auditors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security initiatives align with business objectives and to foster a culture of security awareness within the organization.
  • Support knowledge-sharing initiatives by documenting security processes, providing training to internal and external users, and mentoring team members on best practices.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on security-related projects, providing guidance and expertise to ensure alignment with technical, operational, and compliance requirements.


Qualifications
Post-secondary education in an IT-related field (e.g., Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology) or an equivalent combination of relevant education, certifications, and professional work experience.
