Project Summary
The Clinical AI & Innovation Intern will support the SE Solutions Lab, Clinical Leadership, and Professional Practice teams in implementing and evaluating initiatives within SE Health’s Clinical AI Sandbox and Pilot Program.
Over a 16-week summer term, the intern will contribute to multiple AI-related initiatives, ensuring that tools and solutions are:
- Clinically relevant and aligned with real-world workflows
- Ethically grounded, responsible, and policy-aligned
- Designed to improve patient care, operational efficiency, and workforce experience
- Supporting the growth of AI literacy and confidence across SE Health
- Informed by sound policy analysis and implementation planning
The intern will also support a policy and AI implementation project in partnership with the Professional Practice team, conducting research, analysis, and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making related to safe and effective AI integration in clinical environments.
This placement is ideal for students with a clinical background (e.g., nursing, allied health, clinical informatics, public health, or health systems) who are interested in clinical innovation, digital health, AI governance, and change management in complex care environments.
Responsibilities
The intern will work collaboratively with Clinical, Professional Practice, and Solutions Lab teams to:
- Support the design, testing, and implementation of AI sandbox and pilot initiatives
- Conduct research on best practices, benchmarks, regulatory considerations, and standards for AI in healthcare
- Evaluate pilot solutions to ensure alignment with clinical workflows, safety standards, ethical practices, and policy requirements
- Support the Professional Practice team in a policy and AI implementation project, conducting research, analysis, and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making
- Collaborate with clinical leaders and end-users to gather feedback and co-design improvements
- Assist in building organizational AI literacy through documentation, presentations, and training support
- Contribute innovative ideas for responsible adoption, optimization, and scaling of AI-enabled solutions

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Nursing, Allied Health, Clinical Informatics, Public Health, Health Systems, or related field
- Strong interest in clinical innovation, AI governance, digital health, and policy implementation
- Analytical and research skills with the ability to translate findings into practical recommendations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for engaging clinical and operational teams
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in dynamic, complex healthcare environments
- Passion for improving care delivery, innovation, and workforce capacity through emerging technologies
