Position Summary

The Education Liaison is a key member of the First Nations, Inuit and Métis Program (FNIMP) and works in collaboration with Indigenous communities, organizations, health care providers, learners, and other collaborators to support the development and delivery of culturally grounded education and training initiatives.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Community Engagement & Capacity Strengthening
    • Cultivate relationships with communities and partners to identify, celebrate, and support existing strengths-based, community-led strategies and initiatives.
    • Strengthen community capacity by amplifying local knowledge, leadership, and innovation.
    • Lead education, engagement, and knowledge exchange strategies tailored to specific regions, topics, or community priorities.
  • Program Development & Delivery
    • Identify learning needs and co-develop customized education and training programs that reflect community values, priorities, and cultural contexts.
    • Leverage technology to deliver accessible, practical, and cost-effective learning opportunities for health and social service providers.
  • Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
    • Prepare and analyze data to assess program impact, identify trends and gaps, and inform continuous improvement.
    • Support strategic planning and contribute to the development of program goals and project plans.
  • Partnerships & Collaboration
    • Establish and maintain relationships with Federal, Provincial, and Territorial governments, health organizations, and funders.
    • Strengthen partnerships to expand and enhance education offerings and community supports.
  • Systems & Quality
    • Support the development and implementation of standardized systems and processes to ensure quality and consistency.
    • Apply project management tools and methodologies to guide program delivery and reporting.
  • Promotion & Outreach
    • Participate in promotional and marketing initiatives that celebrate cultural diversity and are guided by best practices.
    • Support contract development and respond to new and ongoing partnership opportunities.
  • Values-Based Practice
    • Celebrate the uniqueness of each community and learner, and build on the collective wisdom, passion, and values that exist in community.
    • Ensure all work is guided by the principles of respect, relevance, reciprocity, responsibility, and relationship.

       

Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Regulated Health Professional with the applicable regulatory body.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience teaching in formal or informal education settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners using flexible, adaptive, and culturally safe approaches.
  • Preferred: First Nations, Inuit, or Métis ancestry.
  • Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, strengths, and health systems.
