Job Summary:
Time Tracking Analyst, Workday is responsible for analyzing, designing, and supporting payroll and time tracking business processes and systems to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role bridges the gap between business needs and technical solutions, partnering closely with HR, Payroll, IT, and external vendors to implement and optimize workforce management and payroll technology solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
Analyze business needs within related Pay and Time capability areas
- Analyze and document current state tracking processes, identifying gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Define and design future-state processes that align with organizational strategy and compliance requirements.
- Develop functional specifications and requirements documentation for payroll and time tracking system enhancements or integrations.
- Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable system configurations and testing requirements.
- Identify cross functional requirement implications to requirements and gaps and document in RAID log.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings to action and close RAID items
Facilitate Design and Support Build of Solution
- Support the system implementation, calculations, and integrations related to payroll and workforce management platforms (e.g., Workday Payroll, Workday Time Tracking, Prism)
- Participate in system configuration, testing (unit, end-to-end, parallel, and UAT), and deployment activities.
- Ensure payroll accuracy through robust validation, data audits, and reconciliation between timekeeping and payroll systems.
- Support post-implementation stabilization, continuous improvement, and optimization initiatives.
- Escalate risks and issues to the Pay and Time Tracking Lead as they arise
- Track and obtain approval and sign off on all cross functional design from stakeholders
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT teams to gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Serve as the primary liaison between functional and technical teams to ensure time tracking changes meet business objectives.
- Develop content for workshops, demos, and user training sessions to enhance system adoption and understanding.
- Collaborate with Payroll and Time Tracking lead to deliver training to end users.
Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure payroll and time tracking processes align with federal, provincial/state, and local labor and tax laws.
- Support compliance audits, reporting requirements, and payroll reconciliations.
- Develop reports and dashboards to provide insights into payroll and workforce data trends.
- Complete project updates
Qualifications:
- Payroll Processing experience in a high volume, unionized, complex scheduling environment is an asset
- Post-secondary education, with a degree in Payroll, HR is preferred (equivalent education and experience will be considered)
- Experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in Payroll, HRIS, or Workforce Management systems.
- Experience with Workday, Kronos/UKG, ADP, Ceridian Dayforce, or similar systems required.
- Knowledge of payroll processing, time tracking, and scheduling concepts.
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance regulations (Canada and/or U.S.)
- Flexible and adaptable in learning and understanding new technologies and processes
- Peoplesoft or Oracle Pay and Time experience is an asset
- Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
