Join us in re-imagining health care with the largest social enterprise in Canada. SE Health is leading a multi-year enterprise transformation project that leverages human-centered design to be at the forefront of innovation within the healthcare sector. As a leader in home care, we are expanding and enhancing our capabilities to provide personalized experiences using new platforms and cloud-native architectures, ensuring privacy and security by design. Our transformation is grounded in guiding principles drive to ensure that we prioritize team decisions, long-term planning, process standardization, data-driven insights, and balanced user adoption. If you are driven by the desire to have an impact, change the world of health care and shape the future, we invite you to be part of our journey.

Job Summary:

Responsible for implementing and operationalizing SE Health’s enterprise Metadata Management (MM) capability in Azure, leveraging Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Fabric to enable scalable metadata discovery, governance, lineage, and automation. This role designs and delivers scanning, integration, API-based ingestion (including Salesforce and Workday RaaS patterns), metadata modeling, stewardship workflows, and secure operational practices aligned to privacy and healthcare regulatory requirements.

Please note we are looking for an independent contractor for a 6-month project.

Job Responsibilities:

Purview implementation & scanning operations

  • Configure and operationalize Microsoft Purview (collections, permissions, scanning strategy, classifications, business metadata).
  • Set up and manage scanners and connectivity patterns (including self-hosted integration runtime where required).
  • Establish scan scope, schedules, credential management, and troubleshooting playbooks to maintain reliable ingestion.

Metadata ingestion automation using Fabric & Azure services

  • Develop Fabric notebooks, pipelines, and automation to ingest, normalize, and publish metadata at scale.
  • Implement repeatable metadata ingestion patterns from SQL and cloud data stores; support Lakehouse/OneLake governance patterns.
  • Configure supporting Azure services (Key Vault, Storage, Functions where needed, monitoring/logging) to enable secure automation.

Source system integrations (Salesforce, Workday, APIs)

  • Implement metadata extraction from Salesforce and other SaaS platforms via scanner and/or API integration patterns.
  • Build API-driven ingestion for systems without native scanners (e.g., Workday RaaS outputs and other bespoke systems).
  • Handle OAuth/authentication, throttling, pagination, and secure secret handling for integrations.

Metadata modeling, lineage, governance workflows & DevOps

  • Build and maintain metadata relationships and lineage (including GUID/qualifiedName linkage strategies, and API-based lineage ingestion where needed).
  • Implement governance workflows including glossary term lifecycle, stewardship enablement, and “certified/curated” patterns.
  • Develop CI/CD practices for metadata automation artifacts (scripts/APIs, Fabric notebooks/pipelines, configuration as code).
  • Ensure alignment to Zero Trust principles, PHI/PIPEDA requirements, and integration to security monitoring/SIEM where applicable.
  • Collaborate with architects, data stewards, developers, and business owners to drive adoption and operating model readiness

Qualifications:

Required

  • 7+ years' experience in data engineering, data platform implementation, or cloud architecture (Azure).
  • 2+ years hands-on implementation experience with Microsoft Purview (scanning/ingestion, catalog/governance setup, operations).
  • 2+ years on Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse/OneLake patterns, notebooks, pipelines) and Python/PySpark.
  • Very strong understanding/knowledge of practical Fabric, Purview and Azure APIs, services and platforms.
  • Experience building and operating API integrations (REST/OAuth, error handling, throttling, pagination).
  • Experience implementing metadata lifecycle concepts (discovery, curation, stewardship, certification, lineage).
  • Strong Azure implementation skills including identity/security, networking concepts, Key Vault/secret management, and monitoring.
  • CI/CD and Git experience (YAML pipelines, secure deployment practices).

Preferred

  • Healthcare or regulated-data experience (PHI handling, privacy/security controls, auditability).
  • Experience integrating metadata from Salesforce and Workday (RaaS) or similar SaaS platforms.
  • Experience with integration platforms/patterns (e.g., Boomi).
  • TOGAF 10 or equivalent architectural governance experience.
